Take The Reins (#TTR) initiative is rapidly progressing in terms of its popularity within the industry, with key figureheads joining the movement as they also see the potential in the initiative, formalised this year. One other key partner has recently pledged his support, non other than the current top flat trainer, Mark Johnston.
#TTR is proud to not only have a partner in rival flat trainer Richard Fahey but also Johnston. Johnston has been training in Middleham since 1988 his horses are known for their distinctive front running style and bravery at the finish. Mark will support the initiative by providing insightful day trips to his yard to explore the different roles that surround horse racing to give young people the opportunity to see a side to the industry not often explored.
Earlier this month, Doncaster Racecourse played host to the annual running of the Leger Legends event raising much needed money for both The Injured Jockeys Fund & Take The Reins partner Northern Racing College. A packed audience notably included sporting royalty; A.P McCoy, Sir Alex Ferguson & Jack Berry. All Take The Reins Partners were invited to enjoy the day including founding partners Harrowells solicitors & representatives from Lingfield Park Racecourse, Racing Together, Active Communities Network & The Rio Ferdinand Foundation. All partners will play a vital role in moving the initiative forward with some exciting plans for #TTR already being agreed.
