Over 30 young people from Scarborough 6th Form have taken part in Flying Futures first Urban NCS model. Your typical NCS experience is packed full of challenges and new experiences and the urban programme was no different. Rather than an activity site in the countryside the young people headed to Newcastle to take part in a residential that would have them exploring the city.

The group headed over to Beamish, experiencing the North East in the 1900’s, with some of the group really getting into character with costumes and props. Before heading back to Newcastle to visit the indoor climbing facilities, competing against each other racing the wall and leaping from the top of the pipe stack.Teamwork and problem solving skills were put to the test when the group headed over to Escape rooms, locked in for one hour working together to crack the codes and escape.

The weekend came to a close with a great day out in the city exploring and taking in the sites through the team challenge before heading back home to start phase 2.

Well done to everyone who took part in the programme and we are looking forward to social action delivery.
