MENU Flying Futures

From 2020, Flying Futures will engage with over 2,400 young people aged 16 and 17, delivering National Citizen Service (NCS), a culmination of 3 and 4 week programmes funded by the Government.

In partnership with NCS Trust, EFL Trust and Ingeus, Flying Futures won the contracts to continue the delivery of NCS from 2020 onwards, joining other Delivery Partners across the network.

NCS is one of the fastest growing youth programmes engaging 500,000 young people since piloting in 2009. The NCS experience will give young people a clearer idea of what they want from their future. They will take on fresh challenges, get a taste of independence and be given a platform to have their voices heard and deliver a social action project that will positively impact their local area. Millions of hours of voluntary work has been delivered addressing local and national issues which young people are passionate about such as mental health, the environment and plastic waste.

Flying Futures has delivered NCS since 2012 engaging over 5000 young people. During that time young people have delivered over 120,000 hours of social action in their local areas which has included educating the elderly on scams, providing local community centres with sports equipment and creating healthy recipe books for food banks.

Lucy Swales graduated from NCS with Flying Futures in Summer 2018 and still remains on her NCS journey;

NCS on the whole has opened my eyes to the world around me. From the summer programme I joined the Regional Youth Board where I continued to widen my impact and knowledge of the issues in my wider community. Now, a year and a half later, I am on the National Youth Board as a Social Action Leader, here I’m involved in the preparation of a national social action project around the awareness of climate change, a prevalent issue across the world. For me NCS wasn’t just an experience, it has been and still is a journey of self-development, and a journey that I hope to stay on in the future.

Becky Porter, Corbi Brown and Jack Barnes, NCS Managers for Flying Futures are delighted to be part of the new network of NCS delivery partners;

Flying Futures have grown year upon year in the delivery of NCS and we are thrilled to be part of the new network. With this opportunity we can continue to make a difference and help shape the lives of young people taking the first step into adulthood.

Chief Executive of NCS Trust, Michael Lynas said;

“I’m incredibly proud of everything that NCS has achieved in the last ten years. As it moves into the next phase of its life, I’m confident NCS can make a more significant difference for our young people and their communities than ever before.”
