Active Leaders

Flying Futures CIC are the Active Leaders’ Recognised Partner for the North of England. We work with schools to put in place this fully grant based scheme, so at no cost to the school, Young People can become Active Leaders.

Active Leaders is a programme which develops confidence, employability and leadership skills.

Trainees learn to plan and lead fun, physical activity sessions and run events, with signposting towards follow-on work experience, community volunteering and holiday employment opportunities.

The Active Leader Award is gained by all those who complete the training course and is recognised by holiday camp providers including Camp America and Activate, local authorities, community groups, governing bodies, schools and universities.

The Active Leader programmes and awards are accredited by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA). 10 CPD (continued professional development) points are awarded to each person who completes an Active Leaders course.

Getting Set for the Future – Year 10+

The Active Leader programme includes CPR training, basic safeguarding, risk management and provides hands-on experience with younger children, as well as developing confidence, employability and leadership skills.

Creating Role Models – Years 5 – 9

The new Junior Leader Programme develops activity ambassadors, leaders of playground activities and independent, confident and responsible role models.

The Active Leader and Junior Active Leader programmes have received 100% approval and recommendation ratings from participants, parents, teachers and employers. Trained Active Leaders have said the course has been an invaluable help with job applications, work placements, career decisions, personal statements and CVs. 100% of all those taking the Active Leader and Junior Active Leader courses said the training gave them much greater self-confidence.

Go Residential – with outward bound activities

With a residential option, trainees will also experience activities such as archery, water-sports and gain valuable camping experience in our purpose built site, with facilities, in South Yorkshire.

How will this fit into the timetable?

It’s totally flexible! The Active Leaders and Junior Active  Leaders programmes comprise approximately 25 hours in duration and can be arranged to take place over the course of a week or in modular format across a series of weeks, during or after school.
